Every School Schedules Differently. That’s the Point.

We’re honored that MyFlexLearning has been named “Best Scheduling Tool” by EdTech Digest.

Recognition like this is meaningful to our team because we know there’s no such thing as a simple schedule in K-12 education anymore. Schools are balancing intervention, enrichment, advisory, MTSS/RTI, study halls, check-in/check-out systems, and countless other student support models, often all within the same master schedule.

In 2024, MyFlexLearning was recognized as a Cool Tool finalist. Since then, both the product and the schools we serve have evolved. This year’s recognition feels less like a finish line and more like validation that flexibility, responsiveness, and partnership matter more than ever.

Over the past seven years, MyFlexLearning has grown alongside more than 100 schools across the United States and Canada. Throughout that growth, one thing has remained consistent: every school approaches scheduling differently.

Most importantly, we’re grateful to the principals, assistant principals, counselors, teachers, and school leaders who continue pushing traditional scheduling models forward. Most of the innovative ideas in education are coming directly from schools willing to rethink how student time should work, and we’re proud to support that work.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that no two schools manage flex time the same way.

Some schools run daily intervention periods. Others use rotating cycles. Some have dedicated Flex Fridays or Wellness Wednesdays. Some coordinate flex time across multiple campuses, while others stagger schedules across grade levels. Increasingly, schools are building schedules around student support systems that simply didn’t exist in traditional scheduling software.

MyFlexLearning was built around the idea that schools should never have to compromise their vision to fit the software.

Our platform accommodates virtually any master schedule configuration, including:

• daily flex periods
• weekly or rotating cycles
• 4-day, 5-day, 6-day, or custom cycles
• flex blocks with different durations on different days
• flex schedules that operate independently from academic cycles
• multiple flex periods throughout the day
• multi-grade flex structures

We have yet to encounter a scheduling configuration we could not support.

Every school also manages scheduling permissions, student movement, and staff responsibilities differently. That’s why configurability has always been central to the power of MyFlexLearning.

Schools can customize:

• when and how students are allowed to schedule
• teacher permissions and scheduling responsibilities
• auto-assignment rules and intervention criteria
• class eligibility requirements
• class-level settings and date-specific adjustments

For example, schools can determine how far in advance students can make schedule changes, establish daily cutoff times, limit scheduling to specific days, configure grade-based intervention thresholds, or allow teachers to create and manage flex offerings independently.

Class settings can be customized at both the course and individual session level — allowing schools to adapt to changing needs without rebuilding schedules from scratch.

The result is a platform that adapts to how schools actually operate, rather than forcing schools into a predefined structure.

Since being named a Cool Tool finalist in 2024, MyFlexLearning has continued to expand based on direct feedback from schools.

Over the past year, we’ve introduced new capabilities designed to help schools manage increasingly complex scheduling and student support workflows, including:

• Automatically Scheduling Unscheduled Students
  Schools can automatically place unscheduled students into Flex classes each day using customizable criteria such as open availability, teacher assignments, intervention needs, or academic performance indicators.
• Open Campus Check-In/Out Management
  Schools can manage and track Open Campus privileges with configurable eligibility rules, approved time windows, secure check-in/check-out verification, and unique student verification codes through an administrative portal.

Each improvement has been driven by a simple goal: helping schools create scheduling systems that better support students while remaining manageable for staff and administrators.

As schools continue evolving their scheduling models, we believe flexibility and configurability will only become more important.

Technology alone is only part of the equation.

Schools are on the front lines every day: responding to student needs, adjusting schedules, communicating with families, and managing operational complexity in real time. When issues arise, schools need responsive support from people who understand the realities they’re navigating.

That’s something our team takes seriously.
